Frequently Asked Questions

How does RCS restore my credit?

It begins with a free evaluation of your credit condition, based on credit reports from all three credit reporting agencies. Then our credit counselors will design a personalized restoration program just for you.

Can I restore my credit myself?

Yes.  The law gives you the right to challenge your credit report, but it takes a great deal of time, attention and follow-up to accomplish results.  Our clients come to us because we have the experience, staff and technology to get you the results you deserve.

How do I get updates on my account?

There are several ways.  You can check our online system 24/7, call or e-mail your RCS credit counselor or check your credit report.

Why do you need my credit report?

We need the up-to-date information from your credit reports to challenge inaccurate information.  There are three major credit reporting agencies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.  We need reports from all of them because each could contain different information.  When you apply for a loan, a lender may consult all three credit reporting agencies.

Can you remove all bad credit from my credit report?

While credit restoration is not a foolproof process, thousands of disputed credit listings are deleted every day.  We have seen excellent results with our clients.  However, no one can guarantee 100% removal, and if a company does promise this, they may not be legitimate.

Are all credit restoration companies legitimate?

No, they are not.  Many credit restoration companies are legitimate, but some are outright frauds. RCS, on the other hand, is registered with the Texas Secretary of State and bonded.  We treat you fairly, provide a legitimate service and deliver the best possible results through our credit restoration program.

How does bad credit affect me?

If your credit is less than perfect, you could be paying 30-40% a month in higher interest rates.  It could stop you from having the house, car, credit card or job you want. In short, it can keep you from living the life you want.

How much does RCS credit restoration cost?

Since our programs are tailored to each individual, there are no "standard" or "fixed" rates.  Each client's situation is different and a credit analysis is necessary to provide an accurate cost for participation in a program.  Remember, your consultation is FREE and you will know EXACTLY what your fees will be BEFORE you commit to anything.  Be wary of "credit repair" companies that offer a seemingly low fixed rate without having analyzed your personal credit report.

How long will it take to restore my credit?

Since credit restoration is not an exact science, there is no hard-and-fast answer to that question.  No two credit reports are alike, so no one can guarantee how long it will take.  However, with our free credit analysis and credit restoration program, our clients are experiencing excellent results.

What if a deleted negative item comes back onto my credit report?

Creditors have been known to re-report previously deleted items on your credit report.  The FCRA requires credit bureaus to provide you with written notice before the creditor re-reports a previously deleted item.  Our team is dedicated to ensuring that your creditors and the credit bureaus stay maintain compliance.

How are credit scores calculated?

Credit scores are based on your credit report.  The credit report contains your credit history as it was reported by those who have extended credit to you.  Your credit report is analyzed to determine your FICO® score, which compares your information from five categories to that of hundreds of thousands of past credit reports.  These are the categories and their weights:
  • Payment history – 35% of your score
  • Amounts owed – 30%
  • Length of credit history – 15%
  • New credit –10%
  • Types of credit you use – 10%

Do I need to see my credit reports before I sign up?

No, that is not necessary.  Most people come to RCS after they have been denied credit, which means that there is at least one negative item on their credit report.  Even a small amount of bad credit can trigger a denial. In that case, it is worthwhile to sign up and have that negative item challenged.
